Why Koreans Loves To Put Scallions In Their Food?

Why do the average Korean put scallion in every dish? Could it be because of the lucrative nutrients it contains?

Several studies have shown that red leaves can lower cholesterol levels, lower the risk of heart attack and stroke, and have antibacterial properties.

Scallion has a good source of fiber which helps bowel movements so smooth and orderly.

Scallion has carotenoids which help maintain healthy vision and intact. It is also rich in vitamin A, which prevents loss of vision.

Because of its antibacterial and antiviral, it is an excellent remedy against viruses and colds. It also helps reduce excess mucus and fight the flu.

The sulfur compounds found in onion rings increase the body’s ability to produce insulin. So it helps prevent diabetes.

5. Reducing the Risk of Cancer

Scallion is a good source of sulfur, beneficial to overall health. It has compounds such as allyl sulfide and flavonoids that prevent cancer and fight enzymes that produce cancer cells.

It tastes a little lighter than regular onions making it delicious to eat. Onion leaves can be used raw in salads, as a garnish, or cooked as part of a sauteed dish.

So start practicing a healthy diet by including more onions in your diet.
